Job Skills Training Programs
Points of Interest
- Class Meets: Monday – Friday
- Program Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older
- Each program is up to 3 years in length (6 consecutive semesters)
Documentation of an Intellectual Disability; Dr. Evaluation/Assessment or IEP
- $45.00 per semester
- This training program provides specialized instruction to assist students to develop literacy, employability and work related skills. Lessons are designed to enable the student to participate in work and group activities.
- Each class has an entrepreneurial component to enhance the student’s understanding of workplace processes as well as teamwork etiquette.

- Class Meets: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM
- Program Requirements:
- 18-22 years’ old
- May attend up to 2 years or until age 22
- Documentation of an Intellectual Disability; Dr. Evaluation/Assessment or IEP
- Successful screening score
- $45.00 per semester for tuition
- $20.10 annually for liability & accident insurance
Realizing Exceptional Achievements at a Community Hospital (REACH)
- In partnership with BayCare St. Joseph’s Hospital, this program provides experiences in a hospital setting that will enable each student to explore career options, learn job skills, utilize public transportation and ultimately obtain employment as a self-advocating independent community member.
- After touring the facility, the perspective candidate will receive an application. When openings arise, candidates will be called in for a screening appointment. At the screening the candidate will meet with faculty and staff as well as a BayCare department Manager who will collectively determine if the candidate meets criteria for the program.
Once an individual has been accepted into the program,the first step is the HART Travel Training program to create the level of independence needed to access public transportation daily to and from REACH.
- During the program the student will explore various hospital positions in 9-week increments.
- Students have become employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Women’s Hospital and John Knox Village (BayCare)
- Laboratory (Medical Lab Technician – Non Certified
- Sterile Processing (Sterile Processing Technician – Non Certified
- Kitchen/Cafeteria (Cashier/Food Service Representative/Utility)
- Today Care Child Care Center
- Materials Management

Successful Transition After Graduation for Exceptional Students (STAGES)
- In partnership with the University of South Florida, this program provides experiences on a college campus that will enable each student to explore career options, learn job skills, utilize public transportation and ultimately obtain employment as a self-advocating independent community member.

Specialized Training Programs
Points of Interest
- Class Meets: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Program Requirements:
- 18 years old or older
- Proof of Florida residency (1 year and one day)
- Documentation of an Intellectual Disability; Dr. Evaluation/Assessment or IEP
- $20.10 annually for liability & accident insurance
- Uniform shirts are required (prices vary)
- Length of program is 1 year
Merchandise Handler Training
- In partnership with Macy’s Department Stores, the program prepares the student for merchandise handling, inventory, stocking, tagging and organizing.
- Each stores maintains a classroom at the store. Training is provided through classwork and practical experiences at the 3 area stores.
- Students must be able to function independently and with professional workplace behaviors throughout the store.
- The students are in class every Monday – Friday for 2 semesters
- The cost of the program is approximately $45.00.
